A headline price can leave much of the bill out of view.

An introductory price needs its terms
As of September 2026, the government’s TrumpRx page lists Novo Nordisk’s semaglutide (Ozempic) injection offer. Each of the first two monthly supplies has an introductory cash price of $199.
As of September 2026, this offer is for new patients paying outside insurance, aged 18 or older and living in the US; they cannot claim repayment from insurance or count the cost toward their insurance deductible.
A deductible is the amount an insurance plan asks you to pay before certain benefits begin.
The strength is the amount of the working ingredient named on the product label. Here, mg means milligrams, the unit printed beside that amount.
The September 2026 offer’s $199 price covers only products with a labelled strength of 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg. After the first two supplies, the 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg and 1 mg products each have a monthly price of $349. The monthly price for the 2 mg product is $499.
The introductory terms run through December 31, 2026; a later offer needs a fresh check.
This is one medicine-maker’s offer, so ask whether the pharmacy you will use can provide it and whether you qualify. Have the person writing your prescription identify the product strength, then ask for its price and a written estimate including visits, tests and other fees.
Insurance and cash are different routes
As of September 2026, cash paid outside insurance counts toward neither the deductible nor the out-of-pocket maximum, which caps your payments for covered care.
In Connecticut, an online care service must disclose the visit cost before care when you pay directly in whole or part, as of September 2026.
