CONNECTICUT CARE · CHOOSING A VISIT
Choose the kind of visit
Start with how your concern will be assessed. Then compare where the visit happens.
Choose a conversation that fits the question
| Visit route | Question before arranging it | Question for the visit |
|---|---|---|
| In-person assessment | Who will examine me, and what records would help? | What needs to be checked before discussing treatment? |
| An online visit | Who reviews my history, and how can we ask each other questions? | Can this concern be assessed fully through the visit? |
| A mixed plan | How would an online discussion connect to an examination or test? | Who brings the results and follow-up plan together? |
What telehealth means
Telehealth is care discussed from different places, rather than sitting together in an exam room. Ask which part happens live and which part is reviewed later.
As of September 2026, Connecticut telehealth must use live two-way contact or a system that sends health records or images for later review; email, text and fax do not count as telehealth.
Sending a record is different from having the care visit. Ask which system the service uses for the visit and how to send records to it.
As of September 2026, Connecticut requires the same quality of health assessment and care online as the profession is expected to provide in person.
Allow for an examination or testing
Medical-board guidance says the doctor must arrange a needed test or examination in person, or refer you to someone who can do it.
Ask how that would be arranged, who would receive the results, and whether it adds a fee. Also ask how records can reach your usual doctor or nurse.
- Who will explain the findings?
- Can I ask a follow-up question after the visit?
- What would make us change the plan?
